This study is no longer recruiting. The population recruited were individuals 65+ years old who have anxiety resulting from a fall.
The purpose of this study was to test Exposure Therapy designed for older adults who are dealing with anxiety after being injured by a fall.
The study involved 10 visits in their homes over 18 weeks. The goals of the study were (1) to see whether it is practical to study this therapy, (2) to see whether people are satisfied with the therapy, and (3) to evaluate its effects (good and bad) on anxiety and well being. The therapy involved meetings with an anxiety specialist who visited participants' home. Participants discussed the fall accident, learn and practice coping skills, and plan and do activities.
